Xtension on to Singapore Airlines International Cup

The winner of Monday’s BMW Champions Mile (G1), Xtension, is pointed to Kranji for the 22 May event.  More are expected to emerge from this race, plus Sunday’s Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1) as major international challengers.  The Daily Mail has more.  The SAI Cup is run over 10 furlongs, lefthanded, a dual change for Xtension off his latest run.

  1. Xtension has been top shelf from his early days racing in Europe. Even though his only stakes victory prior to the Champions Mile had been in the G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood. He’d still managed to run huge in every venue he raced at. 2nd to Canford Cliffs in the Coventry Stakes at Ascot. 3rd to Beethoven in the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket. 4th to Makfi in the English 2000 Guineas. 5th to Canford Cliffs in the Irish 2000 Guineas. 3rd to Dick Turpin in the Prix Jean-Prat. 4th to Shimraan in the Prix Eugene Adam. Then he goes to Hong Kong and finishes 4th to Ambitious Dragon in the Hong Kong Classic Cup, and run’s a huge 2nd to Ambitious Dragon in the Hong Kong Mile. But he finally got a well deserved nose in front in the Champions Mile. Xtension’s a class act. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him run a huge race in Singapore either. He’s run huge everywhere else he’s raced.
