Generally recognized as the biggest race of the year in South Africa, the Vodacom Durban July Cup will jump off on July 4, 2009 at Greyville Racecourse with a full field of 20. 2009 dead heat winner (with Dancer’s Daughter) and possible 2010 Dubai Carnival contender Pocket Power is top-weighted and breaks from stall twelve with Bernard Fayd’Herbe in the irons. Pocket Power is one of four Mike Bass trainees in the big race while Mike De Kock will saddle three. Kapil, a late closer in the Gold Challenge when second to Pocket Power just last week, has drawn stall five and is partnered once again with Pierre Strydom.
