Nothing has gone to plan after Victoire Pisa landed the 2011 Dubai World Cup. Pointed to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) after missing the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1) at Sha Tin in April, it was announced today that he will miss the French engagement after emerging from a work with a leg injury. It’s really too bad for Victoire Pisa that he’s not going to get another chance to run in this year’s Prix De l’ Arc De Triomphe at Longchamp. Victoire Pisa struggled last season in France in both the G2 Prix Niel and in the Arc. But he’s a much improved horse this season from the one that we saw in France in 2010. And not just because he won the 2011 Dubai World Cup either. That race has little relevance about how you’ll fare on turf? But because he was able to beat Buena Vista fare and square in the G1 Arima Kinen. In his very next start after he had finished 3rd, and Buena Vista had been much the best, with an unjust D.Q., in the G1 Japan Cup. Than he followed that up that win on turf in the G1 Nakayama Kinen as well as his Dubai World Cup prep. Victoire Pisa is a horse that really looked to just now be coming into his own, IMO.
