The long-time antepost favourite for the 2014 Dubai World Cup before a lacklustre performance, Al Shaqab Racing’s Ruler of the World made all in his return to the race and en route to a handy Prix Foy (G2) win in advance of another crack at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1). The win was also Ruler of the World’s first since his 2013 Investec Derby (G1) score. Watch the race below.
A hole opened inside for Baltic Baroness and the filly by Shamardal pounced to win the Prix Vermeille (G1), her first success in top company. Trainer Andre Fabre indicated the German-bred could go on to the Breeders’ Cup next. Last year’s Arc winner Treve was fourth after settling last behind a slow pace. The previously unbeaten Pomology nearly made all the running, losing a neck in the end with a gritty effort. Watch the race below.
Charm Spirit saved all the ground with a perfect-trip win in the Prix du Moulin de Longchamp (G1). It was the second consecutive Group 1 win for the Freddie Head trainee after a success against three-year-olds in the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly in July. The useful Toronado was a good second with Night of Thunder third, both trained by Richard Hannon. Watch the Prix du Moulin below.
Ectot, making his first start since April, and a winner of five consecutive races before today, rolled past the entire field from last to win the Prix Niel (G2) in fantastic form. Tired and a bit idle in the last furlongs, the son of Hurricane Run rebroke and held off the Saudi-bound Teletext and Secretariat Stakes winner Adelaide. Gregory Benoist was aboard once again for the winning ride, the only jockey the colt has known. Watch the Niel below.
