In other World Cup-related news, Twice Over, tenth in the 2010 edition with a troubled trip, is being pointed to the Prince of Wales Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot in June. Juddmonte racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe confirmed the news, as is reported, HERE.

Long pointed for the Dubai World Cup (G1), Gitano Hernando did not disappoint as the 1-2 favorite stormed home a convincing 4.5 length winner of the Winter Derby Trial at Lingfield. Jockey Kieren Fallon got into the colt with about three furlongs to run and bending for home, the Goodwood (G1) winner from October lengthened his stride and easily kicked away under a full drive. While the quality of the field was far from strong, the second home Suits Me being a meer listed winner, trainer Marco Botti likely got the performance he was looking for from the son of Hernando.

Meanwhile, legendary trainer Henry Cecil has affirmed his hand for the $10,000,000 race with Breeders’ Cup Classic third, Twice Over. Press Association noted that Cecil was “unusually confident” in his colt, who galloped a circuit over the Lingfield course. Click HERE for the full story. Tom Queally was aboard for the ride just days after some mounts at Meydan to familiarize himself with the course.

Also noted is that the colors of Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms will also make an appearance at the Dubai World Cup meeting with Summer Mile (G2) second and Nayef Joel Stakes winner Confront, a Dubai Duty Free (G1) or Godolphin Mile (G2) contender. Fellow Sir Michael Stoute trainee Spanish Moon, nipped out in a photo from last year’s Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) will return for another try.

The fabulous season from Sir Michael Stoute trainee Spanish Moon will seek to continue with a trip to the Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita in November. Specifically, the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) over 12 furlongs will be the target as Juddmonte Farms racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe confirmed this weekend. The Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) and Prix Foy (G2) winner was second a nose in the 2009 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1) and will be partnered with Kieren Fallon for the race.

Surely, the son of El Prado will be making some training stops at the starting gate. Spanish Moon was banned from racing in the United Kingdom because of his gate habits.

Spanish Moon, second in the 2009 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1), made all the running in Sunday’s Prix Foy (G2) at Longchamp, defeating Vision d’Etat. The win was yet another on the hearty CV for the Juddmonte Farms runner, who also landed the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud (G1) earlier in the season. The next start for the son of El Prado is undetermined but an article by Alan Shuback in the Daily Racing Form mentioned a possible trip to Woodbine for the Canadian International (G1). Watch the Prix Foy below.

Dijeerr, a shocking 2009 Dubai International Racing Carnival winner, landed his first success since with a score in an arguably easier spot on Saturday, a class 3 condition stakes at Chester, over eight furlongs on good to firm going. Ahmed Ajtebi was aboard for the winning ride.

J J The Jet Plane was fourth, beaten almost 2.5 lengths, in the Starlit Stakes (Listed) at Goodwood, marking the third consecutive race without a placing for the 2009 Al Quoz Sprint (G3) winner.
