Spanish Moon wins Grand Prix de Saint Cloud

After a heartbreaking defeat in the 2009 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1), Juddmonte Farms’ Spanish Moon rebounded in grand style to win Sunday’s Grand Prix de Saint Cloud (G1).

Trained by Sir Michael Stoute and ridden by Ryan Moore, Spanish Moon settled off the leading trio and steadily advanced, wearing down Alpine Rose in the final 400 meters for the breakthrough victory.  Youmzain, fourth in the Sheema Classic, and the 2008 winner of the GP Saint-Cloud, was third.  The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe has been mentioned as a possible goal later in this campaign.
