Sheikhzayedroad takes Skybet York Stakes

After looking beaten early in the stretch run, Sheikhzayedroad never quit and caught both Windhoek and Secret Gesture in the final strides to win Saturday’s Skybet York Stakes (G2). A winner on his seasonal debut at Meydan in January, that’s now consecutive wins for the son of Dubawi. According to trainer David Simcock, a chance in the Canadian International over 1 1/2 miles in October is on the agenda. Read more on the race from the Racing Post.

At Ascot, it was a scintillating performance from Taghrooda to defeat the boys in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, winning from Telescope and Dubai World Cup second Mukhadram. Taghrooda is quoted a best-priced 7-1 to win the Arc.
