Sepoy and Helmet lead Godolphin’s Australian invasion for World Cup

Top Aussie sprinter Sepoy (as opposed to champion sprinter Black Caviar) has been given Dubai Golden Shaheen target, while Helmet will be aimed at the UAE Derby, reports indicated today. A horse wearing the Godolphin blue has never won their premier sprint race. They landed last year’s Derby courtesy of Khawlah. Both horses will remain in the care of current Darley Australia conditioner Peter Snowden, before shifting to main Godolphin trainers post World Cup.

Sepoy has been a really impressive sprinter in Australia. But there’s no horse in the sprint division anywhere in Australia that’s really going to get the kind of real recognition that he or she deserves because of how Black Caviar dominates the sprint division in Australia. I understand that Sheikh Mohammed intends to keep Sepoy in the hands of Peter Snowden until after this year’s Carnival in Dubai is over, and then he’ll be sent to the Godolphin barn in Europe. May end up getting to see Sepoy in races like the King’s Stand or Golden Jubilee at Ascot in June, and then something like the July Cup at Newmarket or the Sprint Cup at Haydock later in the summer?
