Saudi prince adds new UAE Derby hope

The growing international stable of Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Kabeer added another member as the Dubai Racing Club reported on Monday.  Through California-based connections, Chile’s Clasico St. Leger winner MEDICI was privately purchased with the hopes of making the 2009 UAE Derby, run on Dubai World Cup night.

Prince Sultan’s racing interests have been quite successful in Dubai this season, holding the best locally-based sprinting chance for the Dubai Golden Shaheen in Big City Man.  Godolphin Mile or Dubai World Cup contender DON RENATO is expected to go in Thursday’s second round of the Maktoum Challenge.  The navy and white silks donned by Prince Sultan’s stable are expected to be worn by DEEM in Thursday’s Cape Verdi, a filly who will get much more attention from me in Wednesday’s analysis.
