River Jetez might go to America following Newmarket

The always engaged River Jetez, second in the 2011 Dubai Duty Free (G1) and Singapore Airlines International Cup (G1), is expected to contest the Etihad Falmouth Stakes (G1) on July 8, and then potentially set her sights on America.  The Mike De Kock-trainee could aim for the Beverly D (G1), restricted to fillies and mares, or the open company of the Arlington Million (G1).  Wigmore Hall, one spot under River Jetez in the Duty Free, is also under Arlington Million consideration.  The Racing Post has more, with quotes.

  1. Some American racing web-sites seem to think River Jetez will be headed for the G1 Beverly D. Stakes? Others think that given the great race-mare’s ability to her own with the best of the best among the world’s best turf males that the G1 Arlington Million is a certainty? She handled other fillies and mares with relative ease at Meydan in the Balanchine, and really should have also won the Cape Verdi if not for jockey error on the part of Christophe Soumillon in that race. But her run in the G1 Duty Free against a stellar field, finishing 2nd behind only Presvis, leaves me little doubt that not only will River Jetez handle the best European turf fillies and mares at Newmarket in the Falmouth Stakes. But she’s also very likely to reel off an Arlington Million win once she get’s to America. TJMO.

  2. Medlocke – I’m with you, I think she could be a handy Million winner considering how well she ran in Dubai and Singapore. Wigmore Hall could run well too, but she has already bested him twice. Hope she makes it to Arlington.
