I firmly believe the surprise of the night will be Frankie Dettori on Janood. This colt showed some promise winning the Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury, and I believe the switch back from tapeta to turf will be very beneficial to Janood. He really didn’t badly in the UAE 2000 Guineas Trial in finishing 4th for a first ever start on synthetics, and considering how dominate that Splash Point, Zanzamar, and Bridgefield looked in both the 2000 Guineas Trial, and the 2000 Guineas itself. A 4th in the Trial behind those 3 colt’s, coupled with a switch back to preferred surface should be just what the doctor ordered for Janood, IMO.
