While Pat wasn’t able to join Joe for the week four preview video, he made up for it with excessive bloviations for the fifth week of the Carnival stand. And make sure to pay extra attention to the changes in the AmWager Bankroll Challenge.

Mackenzie’s Best: Race 5 – #4 STAR EMPIRE

Star Empire enters the fifth race, a 2810m handicap on the turf, off a third in a 2000-meter turf handicap on January 15th, where he was third to Haafaguinea. Star Empire came on late to run the fastest final quarter in that race, completing it in 22.91 seconds, while Haafaguinea did it in 22.94. Since that race, second-placed Mr. Pommeroy returned to run third to the very talented Vercingetorix and True Story in the Al Rashidiya. Star Empire should enjoy stretching out as he has five starts at the distance, all of which resulted in him hitting the board. He finished last season with a solid third in the Dubai Gold Cup, prior to which he was second after an erratic run through the stretch on the outside rail in the Nad Al Sheba Trophy. His group form should shine through in this handicap, and with plenty of speed up front the race should set up nicely for him.
