The most progressive runner of the 2012 Dubai racing season, Mutahadee, collapsed and died during a routine gallop this morning in Ireland. After spending the winter in Dubai with Mike deKock, he was in Ireland with Tommy Stack’s yard preparing for a later season campaign.
“We are very sad to report that Mutahadee has died this morning at Thomastown Castle. The son of Encosta De Lago collapsed after a routine exercise on the gallops,” the Stack stable website posted.
Mutahadee was second in the Dubai Duty Free (G1), before a season which included two dazzling scores in handicap company, followed by a third in the Jebel Hatta (G1). His final 200-metre sectional in the first win of the season was one of the fastest splits over the trip recorded by Trakus in three seasons at Meydan.
