Through a tweet from Mohammed Khaleel, racing manager for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes (G2) winner Moohaajim is reported to stay in Europe for the upcoming 2013 season. ”[The] Sheikh is enjoying racing in Europe and [Moohaajim] will be left in Europe in 2013.” Trained by Marco Botti, Moohaajim was angled out for clear run and jockey Adam Kirby received a three-day ban as a result of what the stewards declared careless riding, but stepped away by almost two lengths.
Sheikh Mohammed’s racing operation has been incredibly successful in the UAE, including his campaigning of the only UAE Triple Crown winner from 2007 in Asiatic Boy. Carriers of Sheikh Mohammed’s yellow and blue colours have contested racing around the world, but in more limited numbers compared to the UAE interests, overseen by South African trainer Mike deKock.
