Race 8 - $110,000 Dubal International DX Technology Trophy, 2,000 meters, Tapeta
#4 KING OF ROME obliged the chalkplayers, scoring a treble for Mike De Kock and franking opening night form. Ending the night hearing thunder in the distance… will keep you all updated on the weather in Dubai tomorrow! Rain is in the forecast.

#2 AGE OF REASON wins a thriller as a small margin separated three horses after 2,800 meters. He classed up the race and Frankie Dettori timed the ride with perfection.

#3 ALEXANDROS kept Godolphin going with a strong victory, rushing away from the field late. The TrakUS system in place at Meydan has shown amazing graphics of the ride. He was a well-backed winner at 6-5 in the commingled tote while much fancied #9 NAVAL OFFICER never kicked in while traveling wide.

#9 GLOBAL CITY ran down #3 MONTPELLIER and had his nose where it mattered most at the wire. This race marked one of the few occasions when Frankie Dettori passed on a Godolphin mount in favor of the Dhruba Selvaratnam trainee #6 ALO PURA, who ran on well from last but was no measure.
Race 4 – $120,000 Dubal International Potline Trophy, 1,900 meters, Tapeta
Well, so much for the thought that inside draws are good things. #7 TARTAN GIGHA had no excuses with his rail draw but #4 MR BROCK got it done with a three-wide trip throughout, giving Mike De Kock his fourth winner of the Carnival to lead all trainers. The Mauritus-owned Mr. Brock, formerly a champion in his home country, spent the summer in France after some mild success in Dubai last season. He is reined by owner Serge Seenyen on his right.

STING to play on Super Thursday card.

As if the magnificent card scheduled for Thursday, March 4 could get any better, with six group races, now long-time sensation Sting will play the races in a concert at Meydan following the card. Click HERE for the story from The National.
Race 3 – $50,000 UAE 2000 Guineas Trial, 1,400 meters, Tapeta
#1 MUSIR supported his many backers and confirmed the choice of Christophe Soumillon for Mike De Kock. Despite a few awkward strides out of the machine, Musir was guided well. An early sign for the card is perhaps the fact that the first three winners of the night broke from very low draws, with Al Arab breaking from post two and Mutheeb and Musir both going from the rail draw.
Race 2 – $120,000 Dubal International Billet Trophy, 1,400 meters, Tapeta
#4 MUTHEEB, sent off at 4-1 in the international tote, drew away from #10 STOIC for a handy win of greater than four lengths. Mutheeb’s win provides the first horse to have run at Meydan to run back a winner. Certainly, this margin franks the form of Swop, who flew past Mutheeb with a frenetic closing kick in last Thursday’s finale.
