The Dubai Racing Club media team published a fascinating profile of this season’s top non-Emirati owner, Fathi Esaed Mohammed Egziama, a Libyan businessman with strong ties to the fledgling racing industry there. Last season, Egziama’s runners won 10 of 38 starts, a 26% strike rate that is unmatched in the UAE for any owner with more than five starters. His stable has managed three wins from six starts in the early days of the 2013-2014 season.
Rarely will you find anyone associated with racing in Libya, but Egziama, whose red and yellow striped silks have become a familiar sight in the UAE, is happy to maintain a full roster of runners in both Tripoli and Dubai.
