Speaking to DubaiRaceNight.com today, trainer Dale Romans confirmed that Pacific Classic (G1) winner Dullahan is to be prepared for a run in the 2013 Dubai World Cup (G1), while Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) and Arlington Million (G1) winner Little Mike is aimed at the Dubai Sheema Classic (G1).
“We’re giving Dullahan some time off to prepare for Dubai,” Romans said. ”It’s just a question of whether or not he gets a prep before the World Cup.” Romans is this year’s favourite for the training Eclipse Award, what would be the first in his career.
Owned by Donegal Racing, led by principal Jerry Crawford, Dullahan has three lifetime victories, all in Grade 1 races, with all three on all-weather surfaces. ”If he runs before the Dubai World Cup,” Crawford told us today, “it would be in a race at Meydan, during the Carnival.”

Little Mike took three Grade 1 turf races in the US this season over 9, 10, and 12 furlongs, capping his season with a brilliant 17-1 score at Santa Anita. The second home in that Breeders’ Cup event, Point of Entry, was announced two weeks ago as an intended starter in the Dubai Sheema Classic by trainer Shug McGaughey.
