Citing numerous sources including Arlington Park and the International Racing Bureau, Daily Racing Form’s Marcus Hersh reported that 2009 Dubai Duty Free (G1) winner Gladiatorus and 2009 Singapore International Cup (G1) winner Gloria De Campeao are considered possibilities for the Arlington Million (G1) on August 8. Gloria De Campeao was a well-beaten second behind Well Armed in the 2009 Dubai World Cup (G1).
The race’s potential international entrants have been in flux for the last few weeks and there have been no other public reports indicating these two Dubai International Racing Carnival veterans were aiming for Arlington’s ten-furlong test. Luca Cumani has been on the fence about Cima De Triomphe, although various racing news sites noted that Cumani has ruled his charge out of this weekend’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Imbongi, a three-time Carnival starter racing for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, is considered a more likely starter than all others mentioned.
