In comments made on his website, trainer Mike De Kock praised the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the marvelous Tapeta surface at Meydan. “Just three years ago, Sheikh Mohammed announced his vision for Meydan and a spectacular racing centre arose in the desert from nothing when there were some who predicted it wouldn’t happen. They think and plan imaginatively, find the money, and do the right things.” As for the surface, De Kock proclaimed it “a revelation, a perfect surface for racing and training, kind to horses and suits front-runners and backmarkers equally well…I believe it a massively important development with great future benefits for world racing.”
De Kock announced that 2010 Dubai World Cup (G1) second home, Lizard’s Desire, will go for the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tim while stablemate Imbongi, third in the Dubai Duty Free (G1) is pointed for the Champions Mile on April 25. Musir and Raihana will head off to Australia for trainer David Payne and return for the Dubai season late in the year.
