De Kock to target Europe, US with stable stars

Geoffrey Riddle’s Wednesday story from The National confirms that Mike De Kock plans to send some top Carnival contenders to Europe with eyes on Newmarket’s July meeting, then the US for Arlington’s big summer festival, and potentially even November’s Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs before a return to Hong Kong.  Among the expected shippers include Bold Silvano, Musir, Raihana, River Jetez, Mahbooba, Golden Sword, and Reem, all Carnival winners in either 2010 or 2011.  The move would be the strongest contingent De Kock has sent to the two continents and could be a wake-up call for the older divisions in both places, which seemingly lack stand-out quality.

  1. Mike de Kock is one of the best trainers in the world – no doubt the best in my mind. I’m really looking forward to see his international campaign and you have to say that yeah he’s got quality horses that can hold their own anywhere in the world. Bold Silvano deserves another big win (after the SA G1 Durban July) and the Breeders’ Cup will be his real target.
I would like to see Mike saddle his first Arc de Triomphe runner – Golden Sword and River Jetez are to fight it out to get a place.
Musir according to me would be at his peak for the Singapore Airlines International Cup in May but we’ll leave that decision to the boss.

  2. Maybe this is Mr de Kock’s year to shine, and get those big wins that have so narrowly eluded him so far … second in Chicago, second at the Breeders Cup, second in the Dubai World Cup. Perhaps this is the year we’ll see it 1st, 1st, 1st.

  3. I think it’s long overdue seeing the best of Mike De Kock’s stable in the U.S., and I, for one, am very excited at the prospect of seeing horses like Bold Silvano, Musir, and River Jetez in American races like the G1 Arlington Million, the G1 Breeders Cup Turf, or who knows, perhaps even the G1 Breeders Cup Classic with a colt like Bold Silvano or Musir who already have proven synthetic racetrack experience to go along with their turf experience!!

  4. When it comes to race fitness and superior training, the horses in Mike De Kock’s stable are second to none anywhere in the world, IMO. Just look at the kind of results he’s had in South Africa, Dubai, Hong Kong, and Singapore. That tells the whole story.
