Cirrus Des Aigles put forth a magnificent effort against Frankel in the G1 Champion Stakes. But in fairness, the ground at Ascot that day suited him much more than it suited Frankel. That being said, he's a magnificent thoroughbred in his own right, and certainly doesn't need to hang his head because he was beaten by Frankel. You look at Cirrus Des Aigles runs in the Prix Dollar, Prix Ganay, and in both Champion Stakes and tells you he's an excellent 10f horse. But I honestly believe he's even better when he stretches on out to 12f. He absolutely murdered Silver Pond and Marinous, 2 pretty good horses in their right, in the G2 Grand Prix De Deaville by 10 lengths at 12f. He beat a very good 12f horse in St Nicholas Abbey right there in Dubai to win the G1 Sheema Classic, and he was very unlucky to have been nailed right on the wire by Sarafina last season in the G1 Grand Prix De Saint-Cloud at 12f. If you take a good look at his career #'s, Cirrus Des Aigles form at 12f is right on par with his form at 10f. Every bit as good, IMO.
