A pair of Godolphin stayers overturned the well-backed Estimate and Brown Panther to win the Goodwood Cup over two miles on the third day of the Glorious meeting. It was the tenth win in a long career for the 8-year-old son of Halling who won the 2013 Dubai Gold Cup and was a very troubled second in the 2014 Dubai Gold Cup. The Goodwood Cup victory is also the second consecutive tally since returning from the desert, following a Princess of Wales’s win at Newmarket earlier this month. Stablemate Ahzeemah, second in the 2013 Dubai Gold Cup, was just behind Cavalryman.
In comments published by the Racing Post (story HERE), trainer Saeed bin Suroor indicated both could go on for the Melbourne Cup.
