Cape Blanco due Saturday in Prix Ganay

After not being prepared to ship to Hong Kong for this weekend’s Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1), Cape Blanco will return in the Prix Ganay (G1) at Longchamp.  Fourth in the Dubai World Cup this year, Jamie Spencer is due for the return ride.  Read more about the race from the Racing Post.

  1. I’ve been a huge fan of Cape Blanco from day 1 of his racing career. But with the partial ownership change, and with Jamie Spencer primarily riding him now instead of Johnny Murtagh. I just don’t see either one of those factors being a plus for Cape Blanco’s career. I think Planteur is certainly the horse to beat in this year’s Prix Ganay. His recent win in the Prix D’ Harcourt was as dominate as I’ve seen Planteur look in his career to date. He looked like he was really enjoying that cut back in trip from 12f to 10f. I think Cape Blanco will likely make the frame in the Prix Ganay. But I think he’ll be beaten by Planteur and Cirrus Des Aigles. Another that I believe is a better horse over 10f than 12f, and rarely ever run’s a bad race at Longchamp.
