Bell thinks Arlington again for Wigmore Hall

An even seventh in the Singapore Airlines International Cup (G1) after a successful campaign at the 2011 Dubai International Racing Carnival, topped by a third in the Dubai Duty Free (G1), Wigmore Hall is being pointed to a return American journey.  After a second in the 2010 Secretariat Stakes (G1) at suburban Chicago’s Arlington Park, trainer Michael Bell said they would target the Arlington Million (G1) over the ten-furlong journey.  SportingLife has more.

  1. I’m a big Wigmore Hall fan. But I’m beginning to wonder if Michael Bell isn’t doing a little too much globe trotting now with Wigmore Hall? With little to no break in between? Make no mistake, Wigmore Hall ran 2 brilliant races at Meydan during this year’s Dubai Carnival. When he held off 2 class horses in Poet’s Voice and Presvis to win the G2 Jebel Hatta. Then followed that win up with an equally impressive effort in the G1 Duty Free. Finishing 3rd, only narrowly beaten behind Presvis and River Jetez. But Wigmore Hall struggled mightily in Hong Kong in the Audemars Piguet Q.E.II Cup, and even worse in Singapore in the Singapore Airlines International Cup. To make matters worse, Wigmore Hall’s return to the UK from Singapore was delayed because of a virus he contracted while in Singapore. Since his excellent 2nd place finish behind Paddy O’ Prado in last year’s Secretariat Stakes at Arlington. It’s not that I wouldn’t like to see Wigmore Hall take a shot at this year’s Arlington Million? I just question if all the miles he’s already traveled, coupled with recouping from a virus, will put him at his very best in America?
