Baffert has heart attack in Dubai, resting well

Trainer Bob Baffert suffered a heart attack in Dubai early Monday and is resting comfortably in a UAE hospital.  The trainer of Game On Dude and The Factor, going in this year’s Dubai World Cup and Dubai Golden Shaheen, respectively, has had plenty of success in the UAE before, winning the world’s richest race with Captain Steve and Silver Charm.  The Daily Racing Form’s Jay Privman broke the story via Twitter after speaking with Game On Dude’s co-owner, Bernie Schiappa.  His Highness Sheikh  Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited Baffert in hospital.

Baffert, 59, is doing well after having stents were implanted to help with two blocked arteries.  He is due to be discharged on Thursday, and attend the Dubai World Cup.  Trainer Tim Yakteen has been in Dubai to help oversee the Baffert runners.

  1. There’s a picture of 2 for the most wanted list!!! LOL. Bob Baffert and Sheikh Mohammed!! In all seriousness, I truly wish Bob Baffert nothing the but the best for a speedy recovery. He’s a terrific guy and a first class trainer. One of, if not the best still active in America, IMO. Hope Bob gets to at least be a spectator on Saturday night when The Factor and Game On Dude run in the G1 Golden Shaheen and the G1 Dubai World Cup!!
