Al Quoz Sprint winner sidelined

The winner of the 2010 Al Quoz Sprint (G3), Joy And Fun, will be on the sidelines following surgery after sustaining an injury in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.  A slight longshot when landing the Al Quoz, run at the Dubai World Cup meeting for the first time this year, the Derek Cruz-trainee was unplaced over softer going in Singapore and was virtually eased out of the running at Ascot.  The injury was identified as a fractured cannon bone and will require some months of recovery.  Still, the tone from the Cruz camp in a Racing Post article indicated they expect Joy And Fun to return to the races.

Technical difficulties keep DubaiRaceNight from posting a direct link to the original article.
