Al Kazeem added to Arc fray

In a bit of a surprise, Al Kazeem has entered the picture for the 93rd Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (G1) on Sunday. He will be partnered once again with Dubai Duty Free winning jockey James Doyle. The son of Dubawi has had three starts, including a win, since his return to racing in 2014 after winning three consecutive Group 1 races in 2013.

  1. Looked pretty decent in the G3 Winter Hill Stakes at Windsor, but hasn’t really quite made it back to being that honest G1 level horse that we saw win the G1 Tattersalls Gold Cup & G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes in 2013. I personally think shooting for the Arc with him this year with so many top class 3yo & older horses from Europe & Japan lining up is a bit ambitious for Al Kazeem. He also had an entry into the G3 Cumberland Lodge Stakes over 12f at Ascot the day prior to Arc, which may have been a more realistic target for him this year, IMO.
