Beethoven to play Carnival, World Cup

No – not that Beethoven, but the former Ballydoyle charge privately purchased by Qatari interests and two-for-two in that country, is due to make an appearance at the Carnival and Dubai World Cup meeting.  Jason Ford of the Racing Post has more.

Freddie Head gets two ready for Carnival

Trainer of three-time Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner Goldikova, Freddie Head is set to attack the 2011 Dubai International Racing Carnival with a pair of runners.  Leslie Wilson Jr. of the Gulf News has the story.

Jebel Ali abandoned

After a sandstorm ravaged Dubai on Friday, the meeting at Jebel Ali has been postponed until next Friday when, for the first time recent memory, four consecutive days of racing will be conducted in the UAE (Thursday – DIRC at Meydan, Friday – Jebel Ali, Saturday – Meydan, Sunday – Abu Dhabi).

Buena Vista likely for Dubai World Cup

After a smashing second in the 2010 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1), Japan’s wondermare Buena Vista was announced on course for a start in the 2011 Dubai World Cup (G1).  Masakazu Takahashi from the Racing Post has more.  No prep runs are expected locally.

Dubai World Cup meeting nominations released
