The 2012 Dubai World Cup meeting could be incredibly well-represented in Saturday’s Coral Eclipse Stakes (G1) at Sandown after the next-final stage of entries were announced today, including three individual race winners from this year’s richest day of racing. Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Monterosso remained in the entries along with Dubai Duty Free (G1) victor Cityscape and UAE Derby (G2) winner Daddy Long Legs could make for a fascinating renewal of the great race. Dubai Duty Free third City Style, along with Dubai World Cup fourth So You Think, a two-time Group 1 winner since his run in Dubai, are also among the entries, as 2011 Maktoum Challenge – R3 winner Twice Over. Final declarations are due later this week.
It should be noted that Monterosso has been in the final stages of no fewer than three races since his Dubai World Cup win, failing to show in the last entry stage on each occasion. The Coral Eclipse is run over ten furlongs, and was won last year by So You Think in a field of only five. Godolphin has also supplemented Prince of Wales’s third Farhh to the entries.
